I’ve seen other “multi-functional” muzzle devices before. What makes the Attenu8tor™ different?

The Attenu8tor™ utilizes a patented, dual chamber design that simultaneously optimizes the performance of the eight most crucial functions of any muzzle device. So, while other muzzle devices may perform one or two functions, none perform these eight separate functions.

How does the Attenu8tor™’s dual chamber design work?

As the bullet exits the barrel, the high pressure gas behind it rapidly expands into the Attenu8tor™’s primary chamber, which is specifically designed to perform three functions. First, the internal design of the primary chamber aids in rapid combustion of unburnt powder, which reduces flash. Second, the primary chamber acts as an initial brake to provide a reactionary force which reduces recoil. Third, the primary chamber channels the flow of the high pressure gas along specific pathways into the secondary chamber.

As the high pressure gas enters the secondary chamber before the bullet, a portion is channeled forward where it produces a secondary braking force to provide additional recoil reduction, while another portion is vented out of the Attenu8tor™’s slots to begin stabilizing the muzzle.

When the bullet itself enters the secondary chamber, the remaining high pressure gas behind it flows rapidly into the secondary chamber where it supplies another reactionary force to further reduce recoil, as well as venting through the slots to the outside to continue stabilizing the muzzle and directing the blast effects. This mechanism stabilizes the muzzle for additional shots and muzzle blast is controlled before the bullet has even left the Attenu8tor™.

The Attenu8tor™’s unique slot pattern vents the high pressure gas directionally to avoid disturbing debris on the ground in front of the shooter and propagating a concussive blast wave to disturb neighboring shooters, as well as to avoid interfering with the shooter’s sight picture and reducing target acquisition ability. Because the Attenu8tor™’s dual chamber design spreads the entire process over a longer time period, it makes more effective use of the high pressure gas flowing out from behind the bullet.

How was the Attenu8tor™ design validated?

Through a combination of experimentation and computer simulation modeling. We designed, manufactured, tested – both at the range and in the computer – and evaluated many different design prototypes. The Attenu8tor™ combines the very best features of all those prototypes.

How is the Attenu8tor™ installed?

We strongly recommend that a professional gunsmith perform the installation to insure that the Attenu8tor™’s crush washer is properly torqued and that the Attenu8tor™ itself is correctly oriented.

If you choose to install it yourself, remember that the Attenu8tor™ must be oriented correctly on the barrel to function properly. After unscrewing and removing any existing muzzle device or thread protector, slip the crush washer (supplied with the Attenu8tor™ over the barrel thread. Then thread the Attenu8tor™ onto the barrel until hand tight. Use a wrench to tighten the Attenu8tor™, compressing the crush washer, until the Attenu8tor™ is correctly oriented. When the orientation is correct, the two solid areas (without slots) will be positioned at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions, with the narrower of the two areas at the firearm’s 12 o’clock position. When properly compressed, the crush washer will help hold the Attenu8tor™ in position.

Is the Attenu8tor™ compatible with a suppressor?

The Attenu8tor™ is not currently compatible with a suppressor. However, we are designing a suppressor to fit the Attenu8tor™. When the suppressor is available, we will post on our website.

What calibers are available?

We currently have Attenu8tor™ models available for .308, .223, and 9 mm calibers..

What barrel threads are standard on the Attenu8tor™?

The standard thread for the .223 and 9mm is 1/2”-28 UNEF, while 5/8”-24 UNEF is the standard thread for the .308.

I have a rifle with the same barrel thread as one of the Attenu8tor™ standards, but it is not the same caliber. Can I use the Attenu8tor™ on my rifle?

As long as the bullet diameter is less than the maximum caliber allowed for the device, there is no reason you can’t use it! In fact, we have tested our .308 Attenu8tor™ model on both 6.5mm Creedmoor and .300 Win Mag rifles and found that the Attenu8tor™‘s worked extremely well for both calibers!
